Finding Resources in CTE Online

Beginning Your Search

There are a number of different ways to search or browse resources in CTE Online. Begin by clicking on the “Resources” tab in the CTE Online main navigation. The Filter By area contains several different ways to find resources, including by keyword or name, by subject or topic, or by standards supported.

Search by Keyword or Name

Keyword search is fairly straightforward: Type terms in the search box and click the “search” button to see all related resources.

Keyword Search Tips

  • Keep it simple. Try looking for one or two concepts first. If you see too many results, you can then filter your search to find more specific resources (see below)
  • Search is case insensitive. Searching for “agriculture” will find the same resources as “Agriculture”
  • Search finds similar words. Searching for “responsible” will also find the word “responsibility”

Search by Subject or Topic

  1. Browse the list of subjects and check the box next to your desired subject(s).
  2. Expand primary subjects by clicking on the “+” symbol to see specific topics and sub-topics.
  3. After making your selection, click the “search” button to see all resources for the selected subject(s).

Search by Standards Supported

Many resources can be found by browsing the standards they match. For instructions on finding resources by standard, see the Standards help section.

Filtering Results — Getting more Specific

If you find that your search returns too many or too few resources, you can use other filters located in the left sidebar to refine your search and find resources of a specific type or that contain specific content.

You can change Resource Type, Resource Options, and Grades to narrow your search to include or exclude any of the options. Once you have selected or deselected the desired options, click the “Refilter” button to search using these filters.

For example, you can choose only 12th grade and the sector Transportation to narrow your search to view only resources identified with 12th grade Transportation.
