  • This lesson is designed to help students develop and understand the need for good communication skills.

  • Personality disorders are patterns of inflexible, maladaptive behavior, thoughts, and emotions that relate to the ways an individual responds to life's stressors.

  • This lesson is part of a unit on Understanding the Patient as a Person.  In this lesson, the students will learn about the death and dying process and what they can do to help a person who is going through this process.

  • This lesson is designed to familiarize students with stress, the physiological effects on the body, common causes (stressors), techniques to decrease stress, and that some stress is necessary in order to achieve goals. Students will also dicuss ways to decrease stress as a healthcare provider.

  • This lesson will teach the students about culture, acculturation, ethnography, and the importance of cultural competence as a health care worker.  The students will also learn about the various primary ethnic groups within the United States.  This lesson is part of a larger unit on Culture and Health Care.

  • This lesson will teach students eleven areas/topics where cultural differences may affect patient care.  In addition, the students will provide examples of signs of cultural barriers in some of the topics discussed, regarding cultural differences that may affect patient care.
