Therapeutic Modalities and Rehabilitation Techniques

Unit Overview / Details

During this unit, the student will be exposed to therapeutic modalities including hyrocullators, ice treatments, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, massage treatments and photophoresis.  Students will also learn legal implications and safety considerations involved with the use of therapeutic modalities.

Lessons in this Unit

  • In this lesson students will learn how and when to use therapeutic modalites such as ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, ice, heat, massage and therapeutic exercise.

  • In this project, students will have the opportunity to create a functional Athletic Training Room and to collect all of the necessary supplies and equipment to serve their athlete population. The students will be given a budget, a standardized room, and an athletic level (high school or college). They will then be asked to "shop" for their equipment and supplies they will need, and create a posterboard presentation.
