I have the students use the sheet metal gauge and ruler to find one of the 3 pieces of their metal from the scrap bin. Once each student has a piece of metal, I show the class how to draw the lines using a combination square. Then, I show them each step, until all the lines for a dog tag are on my piece of metal. I let the students work to this point. Once I have 3 or 4 students at this point I demo the lettering stamps, and show the students how to use the aviation snips. Before I let them use the lettering stamps, each student shows me their lay-out lines. At this point I float around and may sure each student is working. If I see some one that looks lost I find out what is going on. As I have students finishing up, I have them work on their rubric. Once a student is completely done, I have them help other students. When I have 1/2 of my students done, I move on to the next project.
