Adding the "stuff"
Part of Lesson Plan: 600 Sq. Ft. Cottage - Lesson 1 of 8 (or 12)
Activity Overview / Details
After teacher gets a feel for how the students are doing, what the conversations are, and what the students are thinking, the teacher will discuss the other "stuff" that goes into the space: furniture, appliances, walls, other people, etc. The teacher will then go over the minimum space criteria (see FD_FLOOR.doc handout) for each of kitchen, bath, living, and bedroom areas. Have students get up and measure out these actual areas to get a real visual of the space. The teacher will cover additional details for each area in one of the other units. Students are expected to take notes on these preliminary details. They will be given a copy of the handout at a later time in the lesson.
