Activities in this Lesson
- Tiny Bathroom - Hooks / Set
Students walk in and teacher will have several (from 5 - 10) pictures of bathrooms on the board. Some will be small and basic, others will be excessive and elaborate, and some will be basic designs students would probably recognize. Teacher asks them to rate them from best to worst.
- Bathroom "stuff" - Lecture
Teacher discusses basic requirements for this project - sink, toilet, tub and shower.
Teachers discusses the limited space and suggests things the students might consider: counter, storage, window placement, required space around utilities. Teacher would have scale cutouts and a min. size layout to show spacing and limitations of space. This can be done on the board, overhead, document camera, or whatever method is available.
- Bathroom stuff finished - Closure
Teacher reviews minimum requirements and asks for questions.
Students go home and sketch the layout of their own bathroom, including measurements of space, features, and utilities.
