Lessons in this Unit
This project is an introductory lathe activity that includes drafting, sawing, facing, turning and tapering. It is built upon a foundation of student knowledge through text assignments and hands-on activities in the areas of safety, drafting, measurement and turning operations. It produces a fun spinning top for students to keep that requires little material resources. It can be produced from aluminum, plastic or hardwood.
