Table Saw Accident

Part of Lesson Plan: Push Stick Project

Activity Overview / Details

This set includes three video that deal with Table Saw Safety. The first is a video slide show of a hand that was run across the running saw. These pictures are graphic and contain blood, so please be sure to tell your students prior to showing. The second video is a safety device called the "Smart Stop", this is a saw that has an electrical sensor that stops the blade if it comes in contact with skin. I use this to start a discussion on what we can do to reduce the possibilities of injury on the table saw. The final video showcases three different styles of push sticks. This allows the conversation to come back to the project we have at hand which is to draw and cut our own push stick.
