Students Cut Out their Push Stick

Activity Overview / Details
Once they have created a template and transferred it to a 10"x 3" piece of stock, allow the students to proceed with cutting the project out. I use a band saw for this, but scroll saws, coping saws and jig saws could be used if they are all that is available. Prior to this project safe use of these tools should have been covered. I always review the band saw and its operation making sure that the students remember to make slight curves without binding the blade. Relief cuts need to be made to allow free movement of the blade.
