When students enter the room have the video playing. It is a music video by the Tractors, show the first few minutes. No need to show the entire video. After they are all seated and ready to work, switch into to discussion mode. Have students brainstorm ideas. Ask students to list part of a train. Answers will vary, but direct them to the idea that there are multiple parts of the train and when they are connected, you have a functional unit. Preface the lesson with the idea that words, especially medical terms, can be likened to trains. They each contain important parts. Without the necessary parts, the train cannot run and the word cannot stand alone. In the medical and veterinary field terms are a combination of word or word parts. In order to comprehend of the meaning, these words must be broken down.
