Part of Lesson Plan: Domestic Animals and Society

Activity Overview / Details

(5 minutes)As students enter the classroom they are each handed an index card. These index cards are pre-printed with animals. ( 1 animal per index card, either a name or picture of the animal would be appropriate). Students are instructed to find the group in the room they think they belong to. (Signs posted around the rooms will be the following:  domestic, wild, food animals, companion animals) After students have located themselves in different areas of the classroom, instruct them to have a conversation about why they chose this location. Once the group has discussed this, have one person from each group share out.
