Activity Overview / Details

Attached is the Powerpoint that will lead students through the basics of veterinary terminilogy, their Latin base and their derived adjective. It will then discuss how words used in the veterinary and medical field are composed of multiple parts, roots, prefixes, suffixes. Students will follow along with a worksheet, where they will be instructed to list the terms, provide a definition/what it represents and create an icon for each term. Directions are provided within the Powerpoint and on their notes sheet. Throughout the slide show there are opportunities to check for understanding, through review activities and examples. Have students tell you the answer and reinforce the terms. They will have an opportunity to practice and demonstrate their knowledge, and it will be followed up with some practice worksheets, and activities.
