Activity Overview / Details
Monday and Tuesday are lecture days consisting of 50 minutes a period.
Lecture 1 - How well do you know your house? Students are asked if you stand at your front door can you with your eyes closed know exactly where to walk to find all the rooms (without touching the walls)? Select 3 or 4 students to share how their house looks from memory.
Students will be informed that they will be starting a lab/shop project of building their own house in which they live. Students will review reading of tape measures by copying information from the white board for inclusion in their portfolio. Students will do a review exercise in using the tape measure. Students will think pair and share with given items to measure. Student will confirm with the Instructor to see if their measurement is correct.
Students will watch a short video, Construction Training Video, on architectural design showing the use of various scale, (1/4 inch and 1/2 inch) for appropriate drawing and designs. Students will enter notes into their portfolios. ( Students are instructed items of bold type is of interest to enter into their portfolio.
