What is Conflict?

Students will be asked to read Ch. 6 "Communicating to Resolve Conflict" pages 139-153 and to take notes.  After the reading students will be asked to break into groups of 4 to 5, and will be asked to discuss amongst themselves the following:

   1) What do students view as conflict in their lives?

   2) What are the different types or forms of conflict?

   3) Provide an example of a conflict to share with the class.  Remember to emphasize confidentiality of people invovled in the conflict.  Rather than naming the individual, say ,"I know someone who" or "Person A."

Students will be given 10 minutes to complete their group discussion. Once each group has completed the group discussion, they will be asked to share with class.  After all have shared, teacher is to provide an example of conflict in an office and how it affects those work morale on the job. Teacher is also to share solutions to each
