Part of Unit: Introduction to Robotics
Lesson Plan Overview / Details
What is a driving gear, or a driven gear? How do gears work, what is "gear reduction"?
No standards are associated, yet.
Objectives and Goals
- How do gears work? Why do we even need them?
- Why does the size of the gear matter? How do you make sure they mesh?
Activities in this Lesson
- Introduction to gears. - Lecture
All of the components in the Vex robot system are designed with a 1/2"-on-center hole pattern. Each structure member has a mounting hole every half inch, allowing you to mount any combination of gears on the chassis with the proper center-to-center distance. This ensures that gears mesh properly
