Part of Lesson Plan: Straw Bridge Challenge

Activity Overview / Details

Students work in pre-assigned teams of four to brainstorm and list possible uses for a plastic drinking straw. Caution students to keep it school appropriate, if necessary. Limit time to two or three minutes. Teacher circulates and gives each student a straw and each team two pairs of scissors.

Have students share possible uses. If a student mentions building, segue into introducing bridge building activity.
