Healthcare providers frequently need to reposition patients in bed. Using good body mechanics when moving patients helps prevent injury to you and the patient.

Display picture of patient in poor alignment.

Display picture of drawsheet that can be used to position the patient correctly in the bed.

Show video on:  Moving a Patient Up in Bed

Point out how good body mechanics was demonstrated. Allow time for questions and dicussion.

Break students up into groups of three. Have all students practice and perform a return demonstration of the procedure.
