Guided Practice on How to Make a 3-dimensional DNA Model

Part of Lesson Plan: DNA Origami

Activity Overview / Details

Give them a paper DNA template. Explain to them that they have to color the nitrogen bases following the base-pairing rule. For example, if they choose blue to represent cytosine and green for guanine, all the C-G pairs should have that color. Model to them what a valley  or mountain fold is using the paper DNA template. Afterwards, guide them through the whole process of folding until the paper looks like a double helix.
