Certifications "What For,How do they help me"

Activity Overview / Details

Teacher will have on each student's desk a manufactured part that has been rejected due to errors on specifications. Have NIMS sample  evaluation inspection sheet with each part showing dimensions.  Use axiel part from catipult project to have students determine why .250 bushing fits on one side of axiel and not the other side. (have blueprint available on desks) Have students compare their bushing and axiels and discuss why some fit and others don't. (Teachers takes attendance and prepares for lecture on certification and standards in manufacturing) show Axiel bluprint and specifications. (get scanned part of axiel, show on projection screen to class.

Ask students why bushing fit on some axiels and not others.

Explain to students the need for certifications and there value to today's workplace environment. Show students HAAS Automation and the high technology machines used in todays industry.

Why are highly skilled technicians needed for such technology?

Students will watch video and identify what technologies are important.
