Part of Lesson Plan: Researching Biotechnology Companies for the Purpose of Investment
Activity Overview / Details
I have attached the worksheet that I give to students. I ask students if they know of any Biotech companies in our city. We have a company that is a mile away from our school and its the first students usually say. I pull the company, Nektar up on the internet. It is a good company to take students through what revenue, expenses, products, drug pipeline, stock price and annual report are. I start by reading the first two paragraphs of the worksheet in class and pointing that information out on the Nektar site. There are lots of topics to bring up with students, about how a company makes money, why have a research and development department, and why is there a drug pipeline.
