Stringer Beads
Part of Lesson Plan: Arc Welding Techniques- Mike Mederos
Activity Overview / Details
Students will now reflect upon what they have learned and apply that to actually laying down some stringer beads. During this section of the lesson, I have each student complete 5 stringer beads. As they bring each bead up to me for inspection, I show them how to evaluate the weld. I have several welding charts in my shop from Lincoln Electric and Miller Electric that provides examples of weld beads and common flaws. After a few examples, I will ask my students to evaluate their own welds and assess their progress.
