Activity Overview / Details
Start class with showing Pictures of Engineering mishaps and the importance of plan drawings and the skill of reading them. I tell the students about Gaspard Monge a French artist and mathematician who was unable to become an officer because he was born in poverty. It was he who had perfected a system of 2D drawings representing 3D objects. Some say it was this technology that helped Napoleon nearly conquer the world. They were known as Monge Projections today we call them multiviews.
