Students complete, with their own words, a Vocabulary Knowledge Rating Sheet on paper or in Word for the following items: *Spending plan/budget
*Cash flow
*Income
*Expenses
*Fixed Expenses
*Variable Expenses
*Periodic or Occasional Expenses
*P ay yourself first (savings)
* Pie Chart

Teacher can define the words for students or have students use the Internet to find the definitions.

Discuss Vocabulary with students, while walking around, to make sure that they understand how these terms relate to budgeting skills.
Go into more detail about the various expenses that make up a budget.  Ask students to search online for lists of various fixed, variable, periodic expenses.
