Part of Lesson Plan: Bank on It
Activity Overview / Details
When people discuss banking and finance, they often underestimate the specialized skills required to process the millions of banking transactions that occur every day. The vital role of the bank tellers who handle these day-to-day transactions is often overlooked. In this lesson, we will explore how bank tellers could make or break the banking process! Fill out your deposit slip, you will be putting all of your money into your bank account with the Bank of ________________. (Insert a name for fun). You can fill out the check yourself for your deposit, lets say I wrote you a check for being my student. You might need to do a sample on the board of a correctly filled out check.
Students will then make their deposit start off as the teller, role modeling customer service as the first student comes up to make a deposit. Have the rest of the class make their deposits. (select 4-5 students to be the tellers and have the rest of the class get in line). Tell them you want to hear the discussions each is having, with the tellers modeling customer service and what the students think tellers would be saying at this point.
