The focus of this unit is to understand thescope of service needed to work in theme parks or outdoor recreation settings.  Students will gain an understanding of culture, customs, client diversity, outdoor recreation, local travel, on property services, guest assistance.

Student Objectives / Goals

  • After this unit the student will be able to:
  • Discuss the relationship of recreation & leisure to wellness
  • Distinguish between commercial & non-commercial recreation
  • Identify major U.S. theme parks
  • Describe operations & jobs available in park, recreation & theme parks
  • Describe various activities related to gaming entertainment
  • Explain how the gaming industry converges with the hospitality industry

Standards

Lessons in this Unit

  • Student will learn what it takes to be trained as outdoor or indoor recreational leaders while planning, participating in, and supervising activities to create team building.  This lesson is to foster a cohesive class as well as foster interpersonal skills.
