This unit is to highlight current tourism trends and develop an awareness of world tourism.  Topics related to travel such as customer service, client information & communication, as well as reservations. Students will understand the skills needed for travel booking

Lessons in this Unit

  • Students will learn what a travel agent is and what they do, then find a client of their own and plan a vacation for them.  Students will prepare all of their own questions and paper work.

  • Students will create a brochure for a specific travel destination in California and present it to the class. This lesson is designed to be introduced and started upon in a single class period and then works to provide students another couple of class periods to work on their research and brochures, then present during the final class. It can take up to a week or more to fully complete and has many of the related websites listed to help out students with their research, and the materials I use and the opening video embedded.   • This lesson investigates the changing spending patterns between generations and how it relates to the hospitality industry and emerging trends.  This also gives the students a chance to connect with their parents and grand parents generations as they compare and contrast the value they put on leisure activities.
