Fire Investigation, Cause, and Origin

Unit Overview / Details

Firefighters are responsible for every aspect of a fire, including investigating the cause and origin. In this unit, students will learn methods to assess origin and cause, types of evidence,
means to protect various types of evidence, and the role and relationship of Firefighters
with criminal investigators, and insurance investigators in fire investigations.

Students will be able to locate the fire’s origin area, recognize possible
causes,  identify indicators of an incendiary fire and protect and preserve evidence after a fire and protect the evidence.
