Activity Overview / Details

The teacher will take students to the child development center (located on campus) to demonstrate how to engage children in a storytelling activites using props and books.

The teacher willl read the book: Caps for Sale - A Tale of a Peddler, Some Monkeys and Their Monkey Business, by Esphyr Slobodkina (author).   For props, the teacher will bring in paper hats  (allow  enough time for children to make  their own paper hat before storytime) for the children in the child development center. During story-time the teacher will demonstrate to the students how to use the following techniques; such as voice (ex. if character is sad, speak in sad voice), body, (move body parts if neccessary), face ( make facial expressions of the character), enthusiasm (get children involved, ask open-ended questions).
