Part of Lesson Plan: Do You Have a Future in Customer Service?

I ask the students to think back over all of the customer service interactions that they'd had over the last 12 months...restaurants (including fast food), retail, etc. Did any of them stand out? If they did stand out, why? Was it great customer service? Why, what did they do to make it outstanding? Was it poor service? What should they have done to improve it? I then ask them to write a paragraph about that service encounter, remembering the traits that we are looking for in our ad.
After giving the students @5 minutes to write about their experience, I ask for volunteers to read their paragraph, guiding them to realize the components of "great customer service".
