Part of Lesson Plan: Walking in Someone Else's Shoes
Activity Overview / Details
Divide the students into groups of two
Materials: 1) Styrofoam pieces 6x6x1” thick; 2) 30 straws for each group; 3) one roll of masking tape
Give each group their materials. The teacher gives the following directions: You are now going to be creating something from the straws by inserting them into the Styrofoam. Some or all of the straws can be used. The only criteria are: 1) each student can only use one hand and 2) no talking is allowed during the activity. At the end of the activity, the group will have to explain to the class what they made and the difficulties they had during the assignment.
