What is Photoshop used for?
Part of Lesson Plan: Introduction to PhotoShop
Activity Overview / Details
Explain to the student the many uses of Photoshop in the industry. Some examples are:
-Kim Kardashian incident when people were talking about how her photos were touched up and the outcry that followed, especially for young women who are trying to emulate the perfect complexion when in fact the perfection is an illusion created by Photoshop.
-Law enforcement use of photoshop to lighten up shadows to identify criminals or to fill in missing pixels
-Skin design and backgrounds for films like AVATAR and 300.
Ask the students for examples that they think of where Photoshop has been used.
At the end of the lecture ask the students to look over the packet below. Do not hand it out until the end of lecture or face students not paying attention.
