Once they have seen a little bit of what Photoshop can do, explain to the student what Photoshop is not:
Not a database program
Not a music or beat making program
Not a word processing application
Explain to them that Photoshop is a powerful tool for image manipulation and knowing what it can and cannot do is key to being proficient with Photoshop.
