DRUG Influence Exam Procedures
Part of Lesson Plan: Drug Evaluation Examination
Activity Overview / Details
Instructor selects a student volunteer and demonstrate to the class how to conduct a drug evaluation exam. Students will be given an explanation of the different types of tests performed on someone who is suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Instructor will emphasize the importance of each test by providing students with a handout that allows students to follow along as each test is conducted. Materials needed to perform the test will be a pen light and a pupilometer card: Tests administered will be:
Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (Jerking of the eye).
Vertical Gaze Nystagmus.
Non Convergence.
Checking the pulse (3X), before, during and at the end of the exam.
Rhomberg Time Estimate Test.
Pupils' Exam - Near darkness, direct light , room light.
