Working with shutter speed
Part of Lesson Plan: Stopping Motion In Photos (Short Exposure)
Activity Overview / Details
About 20-30 minutes
Students are grouped into teams and then we head to area of the parking lot that we are planning on working in. Ask a student to ride a bike/skateboard/roller blades in a straight line from one point to another then stop. Have other teams of students practice taking pictures with shutter speeds ranging from 1/50-1/600. After a few passes ask students to sit in their group and quickly go over their pictures to discuss what they find. The teacher should circulate and work with the groups to make sure that no one is having technical difficulties or to answer questions and give support.
