Using Color Range

  1. Open “Hills with sun and barn” image in Photoshop.
  2. Open image of tractor. Save as .psd format.
  3. Go to Layer Menu and chose New>Layer from background. Name new layer: Tractor. Click OK.
  4. Go to Select Menu and chose Color Range. In the dialog box: Sampled Colors, Fuzziness=40, Image button selected and click in the white area of the image. Click OK.
  5. A marquee should appear around your selection.
  6. Press delete key on keyboard. White background should disappear.
  7. Click copy, open your background image, and paste on new layer. 
  8. Click the Edit Menu, select Transform and Scale.
  9. Scale image to fit proportionate to other objects on your background.
  10. Click the Edit Menu, select Transform and Rotate Horizontally.
  11. Select the Move Tool on the Tools Panel and move to chosen location.
  12. Name new layer: Tractor
  13. Save you image with new name. For example Hills with sun, barn and tractor.

Using Quick Selection and Magic Wand

  1. Open “Hills with sun, barn and tractor” image in Photoshop.
  2. Open image of calf. Save as .psd format.
  3. Click Magic Wand Tool in the Tools Panel. Right click to choose the Quick Selection Tool.
  4. Drag your mouse from top edge of the calf to the other side and down.
  5. A marquee should appear around your selection.
  6. Click the “Add to Selection” and “Subtract from Selection” to drag until you have all of the calf selected. It is ok to have some grass in your selection. We will take care of that later.
  7. Click copy, open your background image, and paste on new layer. 
  8. Click the Edit Menu, select Transform and Scale.
  9. Scale image to fit proportionate to other objects on your background.
  10. Select the Move Tool on the Tools Panel and move to chosen location.
  11. Name new layer: Calf
  12. Turn off all other layers. Zoom in on your calf. Use the Magic Wand tool to select remaining grass and delete.
  13. Turn all layers on.  How does it look?
  14. Save you image with new name. For example Hills with sun, barn, tractor and calf.
