Part of Lesson Plan: Beginning Storyboarding
Activity Overview / Details
Talk with students about how animations are created-- and have any of them seen a flip book. Describe the process of making small changes from frame to frame in order to create the illusion of movement. Show them the Romeo and Juliet flipbook video and talk about the process used to create that.
Show them a few Flash frame by frame animation videos (see attached), and tell them they will do something similar, by first creating a setting, and then creating the story and characters to go with the setting, and then creating the animation to tell the story!
Finally, show them the famous "Animator vs. Animation" video by Alan Becker-- funny, especially to students working with Flash!
