Activities in this Lesson
- Conrad Hilton Biography - Hooks / Set
This activity is both a Hospitality history lesson and technology skill builder!
A fun idea is to have the students evaluate the teacher's sample PowerPoint first! Give each student the grading rubric as they enter the class. This will teach them what the teacher is looking for in a good PowerPoint.
This short PowerPoint presentation is an example of the PowerPoint presentations expected from the students. On the last slide is a video on Conrad Hiltons life from birth with many original pictures. A history lesson is built in! Use this presentation to review PowerPoint do's and don'ts and to teach a fun lesson about the ultimate Hotel Industry Leader, Conrad Hilton.
We then dicuss what were the strong and weak points in the powerpoint and how the rubric helped.
Students will use this simple rubric to score their peer's Hospitality Industry Leader PowerPoint!
- Teacher Resource - Independent Practice
Learn how to create PowerPoint presentations and use them with your classes! It's Fun!
Most students are way ahead of teachers when it comes to technology. Many students will already know how. I call them my " E xperts " and match them up with students that have limited or no skills. I empower them to teach the others the process of creating a PowerPoint presentation.

Teachers can have a couple of days scheduled for just presentations or they can spread them out over the term. It is a nice way to break up a block day.
