Part of Lesson Plan: Victims of Crime: How Their Lives are Affected
Activity Overview / Details
After ensuring students understand the various services offered by the victim advocate (both mandatory and optional), read "Kiara: Victim Impact Statement" (you can read as a class, have students read individually, read in groups, or pairs). After reading and discussing this powerful victim statement, students will go back to the services offered by the victim advocate and make a list of the services Kiara would benefit from. In addition to listing the services, they must provide a short explanation of why each particular service is needed.
