Activity Overview / Details

It is important to note that from this point, the lesson will not take up entire class periods. Other lessons can be used to supplement over the next few days while students are growing cultures. 20 minutes should be allotted for data collection over days 1 and 2,of data collection.

The teacher should instruct the students when they enter the classroom that for the data table piece of the experiment, they should label this as Day 1.

Students should enter classroom, and begin the lab by writing out their hypothesis and then testing the surfaces that were assigned to them.

The teacher should walk around the room and help students as needed.

Students should fill out the data table for the first part of the experiment.
