Observation using ASQ with visiting children
Part of Lesson Plan: Observing Children to Assess Development
Activity Overview / Details
After initial warm up activity and introductions, direct groups to welcome their assigned child to observe and assess.
Students will follow the guidelines on their individual ASQ's to ask each child questions and direct them to specific activities. Results will be recorded for assessment later. Any questions that can't be answered through observation or questioning of the child may be directed to their parent or left blank.
After the ASQ's are completed, student groups need to participate in some developmentally appropriate activities using the equipment available (balls, blocks, toys, games, etc.) Keep it fun and enjoyable for the children and use it as a time to observe the children more in a relaxed environment.
