Subject under the influence of PCP

Activity Overview / Details

The students will watch a video clip of subject suspected of being the influence of PCP.  After the students watch the video, they will write down any observations they made regarding the behavior the subject. The Instructor will then lead a class discussion on what the officers eincountered with the subject in the video.  The Instructor will discuss officer safety precautions when dealing with someone under the influence of PCP.  The Instructor will advise the need for additional officers while encountering someone under the influence of PCP because of the likelyhood the subject can become combative at any given time. Also, the Instructor will advise class that PCP is a Dissociative Anethedic, meaning that the subject has no tolerance to pain and may experience hallucinations while being under the influence of PCP.
