Checking for understanding
Part of Lesson Plan: 2. Report Writing: Property Sheets
Activity Overview / Details
After students have finished the "on their own" practice (Item number E1.), the teacher will have a class discussion to check for understanding.
- The teacher will read through the section containing item E1 and have the students read their answers to the teacher. The teacher will go box by box.
- By a show of hands, the teacher will have the students raise their hands to view how many wrote the correct answer. The teacher will then find out what other answers the students may have written down and discuss the correct answer.
- Example: "Type Property # 110" box- the teacher will state "Box number 110 what is the correct answer? Yes, you can use either number #2 or #8. How many of you got the answer correct?" "What were some of the other answers chosen, if any?"
The teacher will readily be able to assess the students and what percentage of the class is understanding the material.
