Part of Lesson Plan: Portable Circular Saw
Activity Overview / Details
The class should be set up in a way that, when the students enter, they will know instantly what they will be learning about without looking at the agenda on the board. I will set out a worm drive saw, a direct drive saw, and a cordless saw. I also hang poster size pictures of these power tools in the class. I even hang a poster size picture of a former student using the worm dive saw. Being an active contractor, I have acquired many different types of portable circular saws along with accessories. I set all these out.
Note: If you don’t have all these tools, then one portable circular saw will do along with the posters.
To get things started, I will ask essential questions like:
What do you think it would be like to go through the day without the use of one of your eyes or without the use of the thumbs on either of your hands?
What are the advantages of using power tools?
Start a brief discussion with students.
