When students arrive in class, the telephone rings. (One student beforehand is asked to make the call). The instructor acts like the call is from someone named Mr. Edmonds with a brake problem with his car. The instructor hangs up and asks the class to diagnose this problem. Mr. Edmonds says that while braking his car he had to repeatedly pump the brake pedal in order to get the car to stop. He also said that at a stop light the pedal slowly sinks all the way to the floor. He said that he checked the brake fluid but the fluid in the master cylinder was full. You ask your class if they can tell you the cause of the problem and why.
