Bench Bleed Master Cylinder

Activity Overview / Details

1. Mount the Master Cylinder in a vise with the reservoir attached and remove the reservoir cap.

2. Attach bleed lines to the outlet ports in the Master Cylinder.

3. Run the bleed lines to a clean catch container that contains clean brake fluid.

4. Place the catch container below the level of the Master Cylinder outlet ports.

5. Fill the Master Cylinder with clean brake fluid.

6. Using a wooden dowel, push the Master Cylinder pistons slowly. This compresses and drives air out of the Master Cylinder.

7. Be sure fluid in the Master cylinder is kept full.

8. Repeat step #6 several times until there are no more air bubbles in the fluid that moves to the catch container.

9. Remove the bleed lines from the Master Cylinder and cap off the outlet ports.

10. Replace the Master Cylinder reservoir Cap.

11. Clean up any spilled brake fluid.
