Introduction

Most chefs take pride in their personal equipment. Keeping their knives sharp and in the best condition at all times to ensure top performance and safety. Basic safety tips will be presented as well as how to properly sharpen a chef's knife.

  • The students will learn what a whetstone is and how to use it to sharpen a chef's knife. The students will learn what a chef's knife and the steel are, how to idenifty them, and how they are used to hone and true the knife. The students will learn learn how to draw various angles and know how to keep the knife blade at a 20-degreee angle for sharpening. The students will learn basic knife safety.
