Art History Magazine Pages Lesson 1: Introduction

Introduction

This is the introductory lesson for the Art History Magazine Design Pages project. Students will view past student works of the final project, a 2-page magazine spread focusing on a master artist.

The student will have already identified a master artist to study from www.artcyclopedia.com or other resource. In this lesson, they will analyze the style and composition of one of the pieces of art by this artist and put themselves "inside" the picture, matching the style and flow of composition by taking a digital picture or creating a drawing and using Photoshop selecting tools, layers and filters.

Needed: Computer access for research, Adobe Photoshop CS5 (although all these techniques can be done in any version of Photoshop), digital camera(s), a printer and a scanner.
