## Blood Splashes: A Good Story Teller (Math)

### Introduction

In other lessons we have learned how blood forms stains that give us clues as to what happened. In this lesson we will look more closely at the angle of impact to show where a person was standing and, by putting several stains together, show how we can determine where a person has been and where he, or she, is going.

• Students will understand and explain the terms used in analyzing blood spatter evidence.
• Given several drops of blood on the ground, students will beable to discern the direction of travel that the source is moving in.
• Given three drops of blood, students will determine the angle ofimpact of each as well as the probable position of the source of the blooddrops in 2 and 3 dimensions.
