Communicable diseases are those diseases that spread from one person to another. Bacteria and viruses are a source of communicable or infectious diseases; therefore it is imperative that students recognize and control infectious diseases.
There are four lessons in this project. In lesson one, students will acquire the knowledge of the similarities and differences of bacteria and viruses. Lesson four will conclude with a culminating project which enables students to engage with stakeholders in the community to either stop or continue the love story of, "bacteria and viruses".
The purpose of this first lesson is to introduce and present information to students about the differences of the communicable bugs, “bacteria and viruses". Students will utilize this information to further extend their knowledge in preventing infections. The culminating project will consist of students going out into the community and demonstrating the first defense of infection, which is hand washing, and other aspects of personal care to prevent infections.
