Creating a Coordinate Circle using AutoCAD

by

Introduction

Students will draw a Coordinate Circle using the AutoCAD program and print out on a 8.5 x 11 size sheet. This circle will be used for reference when using the Polar Coordinate system to draw on the computer.

Additional learning will include using AutoCAD commands called ARRAY, CIRCLE, HATCH, TEXT STYLE, TEXT, ROTATE, INSERT and using ORTHO (F8).

Related Instructional Objectives (SWBAT...)

  • All students will draw the Cartesian Coordinate Circle on the computer using various AutoCAD commands. All students will understand, identify, and use correctly the following AutoCAD commands called ARRAY, CIRCLE, HATCH, TEXT STYLE, TEXT, ROTATE, INSERT and using ORTHO (F8).Students will understand that angular values are measured counterclockwise. Polar coordinates entry is (@3<45) or (distance<angle) in relation to the origin. Understand the four quadrants and how they relate to the specified angle. Students will create a 8.5
  • Apply various AutoCAD commands to develop geometric concepts, mathematical skills, such as problem solving geometric solutions, formulas, and functions.Understand the use of polar coordinates system to develop design drawings.
  • Students will set-up layers and create a worksheet for the drawing. Students will also use various AutoCAD commands on the computer.
  • Students will do text set-up and editing features while drawing on the computer using the AutoCAD program.
